Definition: Tatra Tiger

Tatra Tiger is alternate name used to describe the economy of Slovakia, after a sudden surge of economic growth. Many liberal reforms were undertaken in the early 2000s which saw Slovakia have the highest GDp among most of the European nations.


The sudden growth saw automobile giants like Kia, Peugeot etc plants have a positive impact on the economy.


Despite the huge surge in economy, the citizens they indirectly affected the prices, healthcare systems in place etc.


In 2005, Slovakia was ranked as the top 20 Destination for Foreign Direct Investment by World bank which added another feather in its hat. The name was derived due to a sudden spike in growth, which represented a mountain, and was named based on the Tatra mountain range.
