An angel investor is an individual who provides the requisite initial investment for a start-up and gets a convertible debt or equity in exchange.
Generally, such investors group themselves in order to share their expertise and also for them to be able to provide a larger amount of initial capital. Such groups are also referred to as angel groups or angel networks.
