Definition: Nontariff Trade

Non tariff Trade are trade barriers that restrict the imports but are not in the form of usual tariff.

Non-tariff measures are dealt with under specific WTO agreement.

Through the regular WTO work programme and negotiations, WTO Members seek to continually improve market access

Example: - Anti-dumping measures and countervailing duties are examples of non-tariff barriers but they have the effect of tariff once they are enacted.
