Definition: Samurai Bond

When a non-Japanese company wants to tap into the potential market of Japan, it can issue yen-denominated bonds which are the local currency bonds for Japan. Such bonds are known as Samurai bond.

In short Samurai bond are the yen-denominated bond issued by non-Japanese companies.
