As the name suggests, a carrier is a person who carries goods or persons on behalf of a company. In other words, he is a vendor who sells its products through a broker or consultant. They may sell to the employer directly. They generally operate in theemployee benefits domain. They maybe some insurance providers who may affiliate with some other organization to provide insurance cover to all the employees working in that organization.
Eg – MetLife vendors approaching an organization X for providing life insurance to the employees in that organization. Here, MetLife vendors are the carriers of the life insurance policy and they carry it from MetLife to employees of organization X.
