Definition: Shamrock Team

A Shamrock team is the one which is composed of core members who are resource experts. These experts are essential executives who join the team as and when required i.e. on a temporary basis.

Explanation

Consider a project of designing a rocket (like Moonraker from Ian Fleming’s famous novel). A rocket would require a team of engineers who would be associated with designing the rocket and ensuring its operation. However, a Shamrock team would be required during the design stage when a group of aeronautics experts, combustion experts, mechanical engineers, chemical engineers, electrical engineers, etc. would all come together to create a rocket which will work perfectly on the date of its launch. A Shamrock team composed of a different set of experts would be required at other stages too.

The team can include both internal and external set of experts based on the requirements of the project.

Hence, this concludes the definition of Shamrock Team along with its overview.
