The Speak up Program was the initiative of the Joint Commission of the government of USA that was successfully implemented in forty different countries across the world. It was launched in the year 2002. The Speak up program urges and encourages the patient or anyone seeking medical health to beware of his conditions and to proactively participate in any decision making that is related to his health care outcomes.

The Speak Up program was designed around the philosophy of asking questions and being completely aware about ones medical situation. This program encourages to ask questions again and again until the patients completely understands his situation and has all the necessary answers.


The program was a roaring success. The reason was the it used almost all media of communication to distribute health related information to the public - websites, health fairs, public announcements, educational programs run on TV and Radio, newsletters etc.
