Whistle-blowers in the context of an organisation are employees who use procedural or legal channels to report incidents of unethical behaviour to company ethics officers or to legal authorities.
A case of whistle-blowing in India is that of S Dubey, An engineer from IIT, Kanpur. While he was working for National Highway Authority of India, he was gunned down by the mafia in Gaya on the 27th of November, 2003, early in the morning nearly a year after he had complained of corruption on the Golden Quadrilateral project to the Prime Minister's office.
A Whistle-blowers Protection bill has been passed by the Union Cabinet on August 9, 2010. This law is supposed to protect the Whistle Blowers.
