Definition: Grievance Arbitration

The process of resolution of a dispute between two parties by a neutral third party is called grievance arbitration. It provides an alternate to the legal channel for resolution of disputes.

The decision of the arbitrator (the neutral party) is binding on the two parties in dispute. The resolve the grievances of employees, organizations generally go for this channel for resolution of disputes to avoid the legal channel.
