Social networking means building relations among people who may share common interests, professional or family background, activities, etc. In other words, it means to segregate individuals into specific groups or communities.
This term was originally used to distinguish between business networks and socializing networks. These days many web-based social networking platforms have come up. Employers increasingly use some of them like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc for job feeding, social recruiting, social learning and collaboration, employment branding, promoting their products, etc. These days the social networking sites also have message boards or chat rooms so as to facilitate a discussion among employees.
Eg- Many organizations have their own Social Networking platforms where the employees can post queries, share their experiences or knowledge, post pictures, etc. They also use it for recruitment, collaboration and engagement of employees.
