Buying by Description is a method of buying in which the purchase decision is based on the information given by oral or visual representation. These information may be about the product itself or about entities related to the product.


You went to a store, picked up a Sunscreen Moisturizer, and while reading the information at the back cover, you found out that this skin cream has Sun protection factor (SPF) of 30. You decided to buy the product because you needed a sunscreen with 30 SPF. Then, this purchase of yours would be an example of a product bought by description.
