Definition: Sales Plan

A sales plan is a strategic and tactical tool used in the process of acquiring new business or expanding the existing one. It contains the goals of the sales process of an organisation. The roles, responsibilities and incentives for those who are part of the process are delineated in a sales plan.

A sales plan comprises of these broad outlines:

• Sales targets for a particular period

• Assigned Sales representatives

• The products assigned to the sales representatives

• Territories to which those sales representative are assigned to
