Definition: Swipe

Swipe is a technique under which you copy the style of a marketing piece. It is not the exact same wording but it only copies the style. Now on internet many swipe files are available which can be bought and used by a company in sales letters, promo emails, blogs, etc.


A swipe file can help with headlines, power words & phrases, transitions, calls-to-action, closings and post Scripts.


For example: Let’s assume there is an article in newspaper with heading as “Robotics- What is the future and is it sustainable?” Assume that this headline has been widely popular so to gain from it sometimes marketers just swipe it to suit their target audience for example “Microgrid- What is the future and is it sustainable?”
