Definition: Commercial Break

Commercial break can be defined as an intended interruption of a radio or a television program in order to broadcast commercial messages or advertisements.

Firms buy airing time and commercial space, to advertise their product. Needless to say, prime time shows and morning and afternoon drives on the radio are the ones with the highest per second rate because of their popularity and viewing membership.
