The broadcasting of an audio or any audio visual recording on the air via radio or television is called airplay. Particularly in radio broadcasting, airplay refers to how frequently a song is being broadcasted. If a song is being played multiple times a day on a spin, it occupies a large amount of airplay. In commercial radio broadcasting, airplay is a result of an audio being played in rotation.
The broadcasting of advertisements on radio and television is also called airplay. The more airplay an advertisement occupies, the greater number of times it is being broadcasted and greater is the advertisement expenses.
For example, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech on Teachers’ day had an airplay of around eighteen minutes on television and radio.
