Definition: Onsite Sales Method

The onsite method of selling involves selling of products directly to end users at their homes or workplaces by the sales personnel. The sales technique also involves product demonstrations distribution of product samples. Classic examples in the Indian scenario are Avon cosmetics and Eureka Forbes water purifiers and vacuum cleaners.


This is a form of direct selling. It eliminates the need for middlemen like wholesalers, advertisers and retailers.


Because of this, onsite sellers need to establish strong relationships with prospects in order to convert them into customers. In other words, the success of such deals is determined partially by relationship-building.
