Force field Analysis was developed by Kurt Lewin in 1951. Force Field Analysis is a powerful strategic tool used to understand the changes needed in both corporate and personal environments. Hence it is widely used in change management.
Lewin's force field analysis is used to distinguish which factors within a situation or organization drive a person towards or away from a desired state, and which oppose the driving forces. He proposed that whenever driving forces(those seeking to promote change) were stronger than restraining forces(those attempting to maintain the status quo), the status quo or equilibrium would change.
