Definition: Samples(Product)

Samples are offers of a free amount of product or service which can be delivered:-

  • Door to door
  • Sent in the mail or ordered through the site of the company
  • Picked up in the store
  • Attached to another product
  • Featured in advertising offer such as magazines and newspapers.

It is a consumer promotion tool, given to the consumer so that he or she may try a product before committing to a purchase.

Example: -

  • Proctor and Gamble offers free product samples through its site
  • Paint chips are samples of paint colours that are sometimes offered as free samples
