Definition: Demography

It is the science of study of human population based on various statistical parameters like age, sex, location, income, density, births, deaths and growth.

Two different countries can be compared on the basis of their demography. Demography also forms one of the major factors of segmentation of markets. The parameters like age and income levels help the marketers to divide the markets into different targets so that they can concentrate on specific segments.
