Pettigrew and Whipp suggested that change happens as a result of interaction between 3 dimensions:

  • Content – This define the goals and objectives
  • Process – This emphasizes on the execution
  • Context – This describe the internal and external environment

They also suggested 5 factors of managing change:

  • Environmental Assessment: To  monitor the internal and external environment of an organization
  • Human resource as assets and liabilities: To make the employ believe that the firm believes in him and trusts him
  • Overall coherence: An advance and competitive technology
  • Leading the change: This includes creating vision, mission and the right environment for change
  • Liking strategic and operational change
