Definition: Strategic Directions

Strategic directions and goals are somewhat interchangeable. They are the ends toward which efforts and actions are directed. However, although achieving the goals and strategic directions are the collective aims, they are not necessarily the final achievement. Strategic Directions are also about what, not how, but they are smaller than a mission. There can be a number of Directions and goals to be achieved in order to achieve a mission, but there is usually only one mission. The components of strategic directions are:

Mission Statement: The mission statement talks about the core reason for the long term existence of its business.

Values: These are the core and durable ideals that define the central character of the business and hence forms the most fundamental foundation of the organization.

Vision Statement: The vision statement is a summary of the better and desired future the leaders of the business seek for its stakeholders.
