Mass market is the total population which can be reached without any kind of a segmentation for a specific product or service. Products or services which can be used by most of the individuals come under this category.
Mass market caters to a huge population who can use the product or service. Mass market is the extreme opposite of niche market. Mass market products have highly general utility and universal appeal. Typical mass market products are Tea, coffee, Soap, Salt etc.
Mass market can be promoted using mass marketing which involves reaching out to as many people as a company can, without differentiating on the basic of income, demographics, geography etc. Since the product is useful for everyone, mass marketing is used to reach out to a large population.
