Definition: Activity

Activity can be defined as a measurable quantity of work completion to processing measurable input to a process desired output. Activity is the breakdown of a given work in project management. Activity can be further divided into tasks


In Project Management it is defined as the smallest unit of a work having four features which are as follows

1. Fixed timeline of completion

2. Associated with other activities in the project

3. Consumption of resources

4. Related expense


There are five major components of activities in project management

Initiation, Planning, Execution, Control- Validation and Closeout- Evaluation

Every project is made up of multiple activities, and under each activity multiple tasks have to be performed for completion of the entire project.
