Definition: Put Away
Put Away refers to the process of keeping an item in the Final Position of the Warehouse. It is an entire process from receiving the item at the location of the warehouse, checking it to make sure that all the requirements are met and it complies with the product specifications mentioned while ordering, and then carrying it to the final position where products of this kind are stored.
This also includes making sure that even in the final location in the warehouse, it is kept strategically so as to make sure it is easier to access the material according to LIFO or FIFO, whatever inventory maintenance is followed by the organization.
For example: A consignment of shoes is received by Puma, a sports brand and is then checked and then stored in the location where the shoes are generally stored in the warehouse. This entire process is called Put Away.
