Maquiladora is the Mexican term for manufacturing in a free trading Zone. In such a system the manufacturers can obtain the equipment on a duty free and tariff free basis.
This terms originate from Spanish, in which it meant the charging a maquila or a miller’s portion for processing some other person’s grains.
