Balking is a term which falls under the context of queuing theory under the purview of operations management. It refers to the action of any person/customer that he refuses to enter the queue owing to his bad previous experience.
In operations management terminology, balking represents a flaw in a company’s operation and hence proves to be an area of opportunity for the organization.
The organization should strive to reduce the amount balking or even eliminate balking completely.
