Definition: Push System

It is a system of production planning and control in which products are moved forward through production by the preceding step in the process.

It is a type of production control and planning system where demand is predicted centrally with each workstation pushes work out irrespective whether the next station is ready for it.

Example:

Manufacturer assembles cars as per the schedule prepared after forecasting from the marketing department. Or in a restaurant certain dish are prepared well in advance for the day without having confirm order purely based on prediction.
