Carrier, in business logistics, refers to an transportation system or organization which provides transit services from a supplier to a destination. Carrier is primarily a transportation system like railways, trucks, lorries, aeroplane, ships, pipelines etc which carry the product from source to destination.
Carrier or transportation services are also provided exclusively by third party companies. Most of the manufacturers use these agencies to outsource the transit of their manufactured goods to their destinations. These carrier companies go to the manufacturing plants or warehouses, collect the products, package them, load them in their carriers, carry them to various destinations and unload the goods at the destination.
