Definition: Unit Load Device

The standard containers in the form of pallets which are used for shipment through rail, road and  air.  The aircarfts for this purpose are specifically narrowed to  ensure  bundling of the  loads.

It saves a lot of time and ground-staff personnel in loading the containers as all of them are bundled on a single unit .

The variants of ULD ‘s are available on  pallets and containers .

The specific designs available are L1,L2 ,L3 ,L4 on a pallet variant  and L9 onwards they are on a container variant .


Container Types Specifications

  • The base is varied and length and  width are kept constant  as per the volume to be carried.
  • The length and breadth are  kept in a dimensional ration of 153 :163
