Definition: PICK

It is an efficient activity performed to collect goods from storage, transportation or assembly line for sales, manufacturing, storage, etc. The process involves identifying the item to be selected and then its location. Each transaction is noted down in the system for recording and tracking purpose.

It is estimated that 55% of entire warehouse expense is spent of picking activities as its very labor intensive.

Eg: In a manufacturing setup at each stage different components are required for assembly. Each will have a list of items required and accordingly picking would be done to meet this requirement.
