Definition: Unit Train

A unit train comprises of several  units  carrying the same commodity . The volume of commodity shifted is very high.  The sequence in which the items are arranged are not altered either at the time of loading or unloading . This usually occurs when  the source  of  loading and the destination of the goods are the  same for all the items. It is one of the most cost effective and time saving  technique .

Example :

The shipments mainly comprise  of cars , trucks  etc .
