Brief Project Description & Responsibilities:
I put into the product team and was working with the senior product managers of the company. I closely worked with the design and technical teams.
What was the overview of the project? Elaborate with some details
I was working with both technical team and the design team, giving them insights on what new features are to be added to the website and mobile apps(both android and iOS versions) of the company based on my consumer research. I also designed promotion campaigns out of which most of them went live. I could see the impact of those campaigns right away. I could also get an overview of Google Analytics, Crazy egg and R.
Share your daily routine & overall summer internship experience.
The office hours are from 10am to 6pm. The office peeps were cool and the culture was dynamic like a start-up though the company is more than 15 years old now. Our team reported the CEO directly. I had the chance of presenting my projects to the CEO for which I got a go ahead right away after the presentation. As a whole the 2 months at the office was a great learning experience and I fell in love with the role as it rightly suits my strengths
How was the selection process conducted?
The selection process was conducted in three rounds – resume short list, group discussion and a personal interview. In the personal interview, I was tested more on my knowledge over the latest technologies and how tech savvy I was. The questions were also more focussed on a website that I had created in my grad school.
What were your key learnings from the summer internship?
This is the first time I am working for a regular job. It was new for me but the peer learning was at its best. Everyone in the team discussed and debated about their ideas related to latest technology trends and how our company could adapt it. The best learning it the change in the way I think. After the two months on internship, the way I looked at an .com company has changes. I started thinking like a product manager.
Three tips would you give to your juniors
Choose your company based on the role that it offers and how does it connect with you and with the role you want to work in your future. Don’t go for the stipend, go for the role.
