Why is there sudden depreciation in rupee. Rupee has depreciated almost 20% this year. What are the reasons....

amid concern that the eurozone sovereign-debt crisis is worsening, the euro is continuously depreciating. Rising borrowing costs in Spain has raised speculation that debt crisis is spreading from Greece to bigger euro area members. Spain has gone into recession. Demand for dollars has increased significantly because people are abadoning euro and buying dollar as it is considered to be safe. Hence rupee is also depreciating..

yes euro zone is responsible but not completely. There are other currencies around the world which have not depreciated as much as rupee. It is our own internal problem which is causing rupee to depreciate. Our large fiscal deficit of which oil and fertilizer subsidy forms very big part is causing depreciation of rupee...

we have to allow FDI in aviation and retail to stem the fall of rupee. If we allow the investment in this area, it may check the rupee depreciation..

we need to reduce the subsidy on diesel and lpg to stem the sliding rupee. These subsidy forms the major part of our fiscal deficit which is making rupee weak
