In a recent interview with ET, Phaneesh Murthy CEO, iGate has said that Indian IT companies lack innovation and just play on cost arbitrage.
Despite being multibillion companies, there has been no innovation.
I seem to agree. When was the last time we heard some indian IT(big 4 or 5) company coming up with some innovative product or service ?
But there is another side to it. The big players might be playing safe but there are start ups who are doing some good innovative work.
yes agreed that there is no innovation happening in the leading IT companues. But how many of the software engineers would like to work for a start-up which may be involved in innovation, hardly any. If given a choice between tcs, infosys or any other player and small start up, majority of the people will go for brand. Parents will also not their ward to join a start up....the ecosystem is such that we are all chasing the brand names...
yes there still people who wants to join start up. May majority of the people are looking to join these companies but there are someof them who defy these offers and join start ups. These companies have grown so big that there are standard process of doing everything while startups give you freedom to define procedures and innovate...
