TOPIC: Difference Between Customer & Consumer

Difference Between Customer & Consumer 4 years, 3 months ago #1301

The basic difference between consumer & Customer is very small.
The one who buys is a customer & the one who uses the product is the consumer.

Who should be the target for a company a customer or a consumer ??

i think the company should target both. Take an example of complan....considering the definitions given by you, customer, in case of complan is the parent (mother) and consumer is the child. So the company has to ensure that it tastes good for the child as well as make it attractive to the parent by highlighting its nutrious value....

A customer is a one who buys the product and service but consumer is a person who finally utilize particular product or services.
According to the 1986 Consumer Protections Act of India, a consumer can also be somebody who uses goods and services for a living. In addition, the mere intent of buying goods makes you a consumer, nonetheless.

Agreed but what if one purchases a product as a gift, in that scenario he wont be the consumer. He will only be a customer who have purchased the product.

According to me, Consumer means a person who is using end product.
Customer is a person who is buying a product. He may be consumer or may be not. Suppose parents buying chocolate for his child then child is consumer, while parents are customer. While, parents buying chocolate for them self then they are both consumer and customer...

its depend upon sector.
in pharmaceutical industry we have to target customer rather than consumer because customer is doctor(decision maker) and consumer is patient

There is a little difference between customer & consumer..

Customer - A person who is a intermediary person between the seller & end user.customer may be the consumer, customer purchase the product or services.

Consumer - Consumer is the end user who only consume the product..

The one who buys the product is called a customer and the who uses the product is called a consumer. That's how the our prof at Welingkar helped us remember.

Customers and Consumers are used regularly to determine the same personal but there is a distinction. The distinction between a customer and a consumer is identified by the direction of the product after it is bought.
