Nokia which used to have rule the mobile world is losing ground. In India, the market share has fallen to 60% while in china market share has fallen from 33% to 19% in last two years. Its shares slumped 18 per cent in one session on skepticism about its strategy to team up with Microsoft for Windows Phone software in the smartphone war. Can it regain its lost ground...

i think it is very difficult to regain the lost market share. Unrealistic pricing, Useless Apps, Compatibly, Lame models are some of the factors for the fall. Anyone who can afford a smartphone today wouldn't even look in Nokia's direction when there is so much more available in the market of androids...

Their OS has become outdated. Who will like to use a phone which is costly initially, has issues with the OS, and after few months its half the price which results in no resale value...

yes i agree with supersunny, nokia's phone always cost very high when launched initially but the price drops drastically after 4-5 months. The customer feels cheated once he sees that. this is another reason ppl ignoring nokia these days..

a new offering from samsung has come samsung galaxy S II, this is the phone to beat. Best Smartphone ever..

most of the companies have customized the android os by adding a one more layer over vanilla. Even though google comes out with the andriod Upgrade, these companies take lot of time to upgrade their customized OS to higher version. Sometimes, companies launch another phone with higher version making the old phone outdated....

Samsung to end 14 year Nokia smart phone reign: Nomura....source timesofindia.com.

In the next quarter Nomura also sees also Apple Inc overtaking Nokia, pushing the Finnish company to No. 3 in the rankings.

Further emphasizing the shift in power to Asia is their forecast for HTC to almost match Nokia during 2012.

Nokia is really bleeding. This shows how fast technology space changes...
