Mobile phone market in india has suddenly changed with the coming of players like micromax, lemon, lava etc.
Does any one know how these players manage to sell a decent phone with loads of features at such a low price ?
I read some time back that Micromax has become third largest by market share in India giving Samsung and LG run for their money.
So my point have the big players being looting us for long or these new players are offering us low quality products ?
The funda is that these new players have removed the middleman completely from the supply chain and these new players get the handsets directly from countries like China and tie up with small time distributors who demand lesser margins.
THese mobile companies have a simple strategy. As shruti has said they go for a marketing strategy where they remove the layers in between. All phones be it nokia, samsung or micromax have the same features and same cost price.
BUt nokia n samung spend a lot on advertising through brand ambassadors brecause of twhic their price goes high. THis is where cheaper mobile companies fill the gap of selling good featured mobile phones at cheaper rates!
Smartphones saw rapid growth in the year of 2011. India already has excessive penetration of mobile phones. This further improved with the success of smartphones. Smartphones are available in all cost sections, making these items available to every strata of the population. India being a youthcentric nation saw a surge in Android smartphone ownership. Samsung efficiently managed to improve revenue of smartphones with it's wide range of models.... Mobile Phones in India
