Everybody believes in India's growth story. Is it possible to do business in India without compromising ethics..

In India the corruption is so rampant that it is virtually impossible to start a business without bribing. Even small things like police verification requires people to pay money..

India's has very lax ethical standards, very poor governance model, poor enforcement mechanism of laws. This has affected the country, corporate and individuals at many levels.

Corruption is rampant in the system because of ineffciencies in the system. We need to flush out the inefficiencies to improve the system. First step would be to automate the processes wherever it is possible. Wherever there is human intervention there is possible we should minimise through automation

it depends on the person whether he wants to do business ethically or not. It is the upbringing of an individual that determines the how ethical a person is. Unfortunately, our indian culture is such that we murder ethics at every stage. Unless and until we put in stringent rules in place its very difficult to change our culture...

yes it is very difficult to do business without compromising ethics. In countries like India there are always shortcuts available or rather people are forced to take routes which otherwise would be immoral. You need to be patient to do business in india...

definition of ethics is very subjective, its upto the individual to follow ethics. There may be a situation where an act is against the law but in favor of the society...so the framework of ethics is very vast...

i have one more question, how should a company ensure that its employees are following ethical practices..

Re: Business vs Ethics 4 years, 9 months ago #944

The leader should ensure that he provides the type of leadership that inspires those around him to walk with honesty, integrity, and quality....employees will always try to follow the owner.
