I stood there amidst the tall trees only to realize how puny I was. In their highest boughs the world rustles, their roots rest in infinity. But they do not lose themselves there, they struggle with all the force of their lives for only one thing, to fulfill themselves according to their own laws, to build up their own form, to represent themselves. Caught in amazement, I tried to focus. In the dark the trees seemed to move closer and the life of the forest was conveyed on the breeze. Creakings and whisperings, as though the trees were coming to life, stretching their limbs in the dark, shifting a little, flexing their fingers, unfurling a mystery altogether!
