I met this girl in one of the Urdu schools under Project Nanhi Kali. Her teacher asked her to sing a song for us like some of the other girls just had. Try as her teacher might, this girl was so painfully shy and conscious that she couldn't bring herself to sing. I can imagine what that must have felt like, being forced to open up to a bunch of strangers when all you really wanted was to blend into the background and never be called upon. This photo was taken right after she told her teacher that she did not want to sing. There was finality to her tone, which in spite of her sweet smile and shy eyes brought the matter to a definite close
