General Motors India Private Limited is a joint venture of General Motors and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation. It started its operations in India in 1928 but then discontinued in 1954. It continued its tie-ups with Hindustan motors to produce trucks, cars and off-road equipments. It has manufacturing facility at Halol (located in Gujarat) and Talegaon (located in Maharashtra) which have a combined annual production capacity of 2,25,000 units. It sells its cars through its subsidiary named Chevrolet. The global product portfolio includes automobiles, commercial vehicles and automobile parts. It currently offers beat, spark, beat diesel, Sail, Sail-UVA, Cruze, Tavera, Captiva and Enjoy. It also has a vehicle design studio in India which was set-up at Bengaluru in the year 2007.
