Ford Motor Company is an American multinational automobile company with its headquarters at Michigan, Detroit and is a public company.
It was incorporated in 1903 by Henry Ford. It has two business sectors namely, Automotive and Financial Services. The former has four segments viz., North America, South America, Asia Pacific Africa and Europe. The North America segment sells automobiles, spares and accessories in USA and the brands sold are Ford and Lincoln. The financial sector is provides various services like vehicle related financing, leasing, insurance, holding companies, real estate etc. The concept of assembly lines for large scale manufacturing was introduced to the world by Ford. It also owns Brazilian manufacturer Troller (which manufactures SUV) and Australian car manufacturer FPV. Ford has divested its luxury brands of Jaguar and Land Rover to Tata Motor, India in the year 2008. Ford employees around 187,000 people and is #64 on Forbes global 2000 companies list. It is # 133 in America's best employers released by Forbes. In April 2015, Ford has sold 221,652 units in USA which is 5.37% more as compared to units sold in April 2014. As of May 2015, its market capitalization is $63.6 Billion.
