Naspers is based in South Africa and was founded by J.B.M Hertzog in 1915. Currently it is headed by Mr. Robert Dijk and is headquartered in Cape Town, South Africa.


Back in 1915 the company was started as a publisher and printer of newspaper and magazines. After a couple of years it also added book publishing to its portfolio which provided it a great reputation in the country. Naspers mainly operates in three major segments which are Pay-television, Internet and print. Pay–television segment deals with the management of digital media on any platform. The internet segment includes social networks, e-commerce, mobile value-added service etc. The print section deals with the publishing of magazines, newspapers and books. The company is ranked fourth in the industry in terms of market capitalization. Investment in ‘Tencent’ was the most profitable investment for the company till date which improved its market cap manifolds and also led it to become the largest company in Africa.
