The L’Oreal group, is a French beauty company, headquartered in Clichy, Hauts-de-Seine.
It was founded in 1909 by Eugene Schueller. He was a French chemist, who developed a hair dye formula, calles “Aureale”. That is from where the group derives its name. Now, it is the biggest name in the world in cosmetics and beauty industry. Presently, they employ 78,600 people across the world. They are deeply committed to research and innovation in the field of beauty and have had 501 patents registered in 2014. They have 43 factories and 71 distribution centers worldwide, and operate in 130 nations. L’Oreal, as a group has grown both organically and inorganically, marked by major acquisitions in the field of beauty. Currently, 32 brands come under the L’Oreal group. It operates in four segments: L’Oreal Luxury, Professional Products, Active Cosmetics and Consumer Products. The major brands like Kiehl’s, Lancome, Yves Saint Laurent, Ralph Lauren, Vichy, The Body Shop, Maybelline, Garnier, L’Oreal Paris, Kerastase, Redken among many others. L’Oreal sells its products through salons, departmental stores, skin clinics, perfumeries and travel retail.
