Now known as “Engie”, GDF Suez is a French multinational organization in the electric utility industry.
It is headquartered in Courbevoie, France. It came into existence in 2008 as a result of a merger between Gaz de France and Suez. It operates in three segments: power, natural gas, and energy services. It is the leading independent power producer in the world. It also generates power from renewable sources of energy, like hydropower, solar power, wind power, biomass and biogas. Engie is also active in exploration and production with over 382 licenses in 18 nations. It has its own hydrocarbon reserves in 16 countries. Engie is also active in energy trading services with buyers of varying volumes. It currently employs around 220,000 people across 70 countries.
