8. AirAsia India

AirAsia India was incorporated as a scheduled airline carrier in March 2013.

This airline is a joint venture between AirAsia India Investment Ltd. (49%), Tata Sons Ltd. (30%) and Telestra Trade Place Pvt. Ltd. (21%). It is positioned as a low-fare carrier with its domestic hub in Bengaluru. As on October 2014, the company holds about 1% market share in the domestic passenger traffic in India.

At present, the company has a fleet of two Airbus A320 flying from Bengaluru to Goa, Chennai, Kochi, Chandigarh and Jaipur. It was the first airline to commence flight from Pune to Jaipur from December 2014 onwards.

In the first month of its operations, AirAsia India incurred a net loss of Rs. 260 million while it reported a loss of Rs. 290 million during July-September 2014 quarter.
