Headquartered in Mumbai, GoAir is a low fare air carrier (LFC).

It is a wholly owned enterprise of the Wadia Group. The airline was established in June 2005 and began commercial operations in November 2005. Its primary hub is located at Mumbai with a secondary hub in Delhi.

GoAir operates around 100 flights daily to 21 destinations across the country. Currently, the company does not operate on international routes as its fleet size is less than 20, which is mandatory for operating international flights. It has a fleet of 19 leased aircrafts and uses only Airbus A 320-200 for its operations. The airline’s market share saw a rise from 3% in 2008-09 to 9% in 2013-14 due to rampant expansion exercise.
