Xiaomi is a Chinese electronics company headquartered in Beijing, China. It has emerged a strong brand in past few years.
It was co-founded by eight partners in April, 2010 & it designs, develops and sells smartphones, consumer electronics and mobile apps as well. It had released its first phone in August 2011.
In December 2014, it became the world’s most valuable technology start-up. Xiaomi’s shipments have declined sequentially 10% because of lower than expected sales in Greater China region due to tough competition from Meizu, Huawei and Apple. Xiaomi has achieved Million sales within five months of launch in India and it is now selling its smartphones to more than 7 countries outside China. In countries like India and Indonesia it has changed its distribution strategy from Online only to Hybrid. It will continue to invest in regional content platforms in countries like India and Indonesia and at the same time expanding in new regions like Latin America. India has become its biggest market outside China it will invest locally in terms of developing locally relevant apps with MiUi, supporting six Indian languages. Xiaomi has also entered United States, not with the mobile but its portal mi.com for related products due to high entry barriers.
