Founded in 1968 by Derrick Bailey & Mark Darby (Former CEO of FLyBaboo, regional airline based in Geneva) and its head office is located at Guernsey airport, UK.
Aurigny is the flag carrier airline which operates passengers and freight services between UK, the Channel Islands and continental Europe. Airline has around 290 staff and provides a network of scheduled services to 11 destinations in 3 countries .It also has an Aurigny frequent flyer programme. Airline has also served longest regionally. Code share agreement was formed with Blue Island airline in March 2014 and it started on Guernsey- Jersey route. Airlines London route has been most popular choice by business travellers. It accounts for 29% growth for the airline in First quarter 2015.
Airline uses ATR (Aerei da Trasporto Regionale, a twin turbo prop, regional airline) 42s, ATR 72s ,Britten- Norman Trislander(replaced with Dornier Do), Dornier Do 228 and Embraer 195 to fly between the Channel Islands of Guernsey, Jersey and Alderney, and to destinations in UK. Airline serves the following destinations in UK: Bristol, East Midlands, London, Manchester and Southampton. In 2014, Aircraft Trislander got renamed as “JOEY” after replacing it with Dornier Do 228.Other new aircrafts announced by airline are G- NSEY, G-FBEN etc.
March 2015 was the busiest route from Guernsey and London. Passenger volume has increased by 4% in the first quarter of 2015 for the airlines. New fleet ATR 42-500 was operated from Guernsey- London route. It is due to this operation the passenger volume has increased to 4-5% as compared to last year. This route also serve London three main airport. Passengers are also using the airline’s London airport for its international flights to the south east and domestic and international flights. Its London airport is important because a different strategy was followed by Aurigny to provide a unique training through flight simulator and civil aviation authority has also given permissions for the same.
