Starbucks Corporation, operating as Starbucks Coffee is a global coffeehouse company, headquartered in Seattle, Washington.

It was founded in 1971 as a single store in Seattle, by Zev Siegl, Jerry Baldwin and Gordon Bowker, three friends who met at the University of San Francisco. The name was inspired by Moby Dick and the aim was to serve the finest whole bean coffee. The logo of a two-tailed siren from the Greek mythology, is also inspired by the sea. Today, it has a wide offering of tea, coffee, pastries, frappuccino beverages, espresso beverages, cookies and cakes. It houses multiple brands like Starbucks Coffee,Teavana, Tazo, Seattle’s Best Coffee, Evolution, Torrefazione Italia Coffee, and La Boulange. It has around 21800 stores across the world. Starbucks was created with a vision of being more than just a coffee shop; the vision was to create a third world, after work and home, where people come to unwind and relax. It operates in various formats like standalone stores, express stores and drive-in stores. Starbucks collectibles like tea and coffee brewing equipment, packaged goods, mugs and other accessories are also available for sale in every store. Starbucks has also entered a partnership with Apple to offer music as a part of the coffee shop experience.
